A Rabbi and a Reverend walk into a podcast... and talk REAL about religion. We are Rabbi Eric Linder and Reverend Joel Tolbert. We became colleagues and friends in 2012 when we both found ourselves serving congregations near Athens, GA. We were founding members of an area Interfaith group that grew from seven to over sixty clergy. Today, we live in different states but come together here to discuss faith, God, religion, entertainment, and tech. We’ll dive into the social, cultural, political, and topical too. We have quick minds, sharp tongues, and good hearts, and we hope you enjoy being a part of these conversations!

What's it like back there? In this episode, Eric and Joel reflect and confess how being a religious leader really is different, odd, misunderstood, and amazing. Take a peek behind the clergy curtain and wear the hat (or yarmulke) of a clergy person for a moment.

Easter!

Sunday Apr 04, 2021
This week we flip the tables. Like Jesus did in the temple? No, not like that. Last week, Rev. Joel interviewed Rabbi Eric about Passover. This week, Eric interviews Joel about Easter. Is Easter the core of the Christian faith? Does every Christian believe the same thing about Easter? Did Easter HAVE to happen? We hope this episode feeds you with hope and curiosity to know God better.

During this conversation, Joel and Eric talk about what is being labeled as "cancel culture." What does religion say about "canceling" certain things, people, and/or beliefs? What does the term signify, and should we use something else in its place? (spoiler alert: Eric thinks so).

Thoughts and Prayers
Sunday Feb 21, 2021
Sunday Feb 21, 2021
Description:
Joel & Eric talk about prayer. What is it? Who (or what) is the intended audience? Is there a difference between praying alone and praying together? Does it matter? What bout the spiritual power of personal prayer vs the communal togetherness of "corporate" prayer?
And speaking of possible prayers being answered, we will be getting pop filters for our microphones so Ps Ts and Bs don't spike out, and we will also work on being quieter with keyboards and chairs!

Eric & Joel talk about forgiveness. They tackle questions such as: Is anything and everything forgivable? Does God ever seek forgiveness?
Using examples of theology, pop culture, and "real" life, they cover a lot of ground this week .... with their shoes off.
